The highest mountain of southern Serbia, Kopaonik, covers 12,000 hectares of picturesque hills and valleys.  It is located 275 km from Belgrade and 110 km from Nis.  Owing to the geological heritage of the region, Kopaonik is rich in mineral resources (for which it obtained its name; to dig ore), and mild thermal mineral waters, unique flora and fauna.  This majestic beauty has been protected since the year 1981., when it became National Park Kopaonik.  Mountain of the Sun, as called due to 200 sunny days a year, offers tourists many options for entertainment throughout the year: walks, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, rafting, biking and paragliding.  With storage capacity of about 3,000 beds, conference center, a rich network of ski runs and ski lifts, excellent restaurants, shops, and sports center, Kopaonik was included among the leading European mountain resorts.  Top-grade equipped grounds of the ski center Kopaonik provide immense enjoyment for all categories of skiers, from beginners to the skiers of top abilities.  Kopaonik ski center has about 55 km of trails groomed for alpine skiing and 12 km cross-country skiing.  Over 70 percent of ski resorts are covered by a system of artificial snowing.

 All tracks are very well connected by system of cable cars and ski lifts with a capacity of over 32,000 skiers per hour.
