DAY 1: Arrive to Belgrade airport. Transfer to Hotel. After a short rest, sightseeing of Belgrade by bus/mini bus with expert tour guide, including visiting the Kalemegdan Fortress. Evening: free time. Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 2: Buffet breakfast. Travel to Manasija Monastery, a striking example of terrestrial strength bound to art and culture. Built in 1418 by Stefan Lazarevic, son of Prince Lazar. Manasija is surrounded by a magnificent wall. Its frescoes demonstrate a brilliant synthesis of Byzantine and Western art. Visit the nearby Resava cave before continuing to Ravanica Monastery with its fortifications. Church was founded by Prince Lazar just before the Battle of Kosovo in 1389 year. Ravanica Church is one of the most beautiful examples of Morava/style architecture. Overnight in Nis.
DAY 3 : Buffet breakfast. Sightseeing of Nis, the second largest city in Serbia. This includes the infamous Skull Tower, built by the Turks from the heads of 952 Serbian revolutionaries after their defeat in 1809. Also visit the ancient Roman site of Mediana. Nis was an important stronghold on the road to Byzantine. Emperor Constantine the Great was born in Nis in 303.year a.g., and for a time had a summer residence there. Continue on to Kalenic Monastery, built 1413-1420. Kalenic frescoes are among the most important surviving works of the 15th century Byzantine painters. Afterwards, visit Ljubostinja, the abbey Princess Milica, wife of Prince Lazar, built to live in seclusion after her husband’s death. Spand the night in Kopaonik Mauntain.
DAY 4 : Buffet braekfast. Travel south via Raska and Novi Pazar to visit Sopocani, a monastery entered in the UNESCO world registry of cultural treasures and natural rarities. Founded by King Uros (1243-1276), it contains splendid frescoes from the 13th century. Return to Kopaonik in the afternoon and walking tour of this beautiful national park. Overnight in Kopaonik.
DAY 5 : Buffet Breakfast. Travel to Studenica Monastery, founded by King Stefan Nemanja in 1195. Only three of the original 14 churches remain: Church of the Mother of God, an outstanding example of the Raska architectural style, built of pure white marble, Kings Church and St. Nikolas Church. Continue to Zica, one of the most important of the Serbian Monastires. Built in 1219, it was the first seat of the Serbian Autocephalous Archbishopric, and also where the first Serbian kings were crowned. On the way back to Belgrade, stop at the Oplenac, to visit the five-domed church founded of St. George. The church founded by King Petar I serves as a mausoleum of the Karadjordjevic family. Departure to Belgrade, overnight in Belgrade. DAY 6 : Buffet breakfast. Drive north to the province of Vojvodina to visit the regional capital Novi Sad and the Petrovaradin Fortress, the „Gibraltar of the Danube“. Also visit Krusedol Monastery, built in 1509-1515, and Sremski Karlovci, which became the seat of the Ortodox Metropolitain in 1713 and the religious and cultural center for the erbs in Vojvodina. Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 7 : Breakfast. Transfer to Belgrade airport. End of programme.
